Aspen Models K-28 Aspen Models K-28 in kit form

The new Aspen Models K-28 was recently introduced and was on display at the National Train Show in St. Louis, Missouri. This is an exquisite brass locomotive featuring several cast and etched brass detail parts. The picture on the right shows it in kit form which will be available within the next month or two.

The K-28 will soon be available in assembled and painted versions. The photo on the left shows the assembled, yet unpainted locomotive. This is a very well detailed locomotive featuring full working valve gear and even a detailed cast brass boiler backhead.

The tender is a well detailed combination of brass etchings and castings. The locomotive is well built and well detailed and should be a must for any narrow gauge N-scale layout.

Distinctive K-28 smokebox front

The classic look of the K-28 is evident here. The painted and lettered K-28 should be a real site lumbering along a twisting path of steel with a string of passenger cars gently rocking along behind

K-28 close upThe high level of detail can be seen in this photo. The running gear is operational and is a real site to behold in person. It does, however, hang just a little too low and can sustain a little damage when used with Marklin turnouts. The black box on the turnout might bend the valvegear and cause it to bind.

Aspen Model K-28 ChassisThe new Aspen Model K-28 uses an all new chassis design of machined brass with what appears to be delrin gears. It is driven by the Faulhauber 0816 coreless motor and the gear drive is set to provide prototypical scale speeds.
