There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.  There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.  There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.
1 Corinthians 12:4-6

". . . every Christian person should be a creative individual, with resources for helping others.  Christianity is not meant just to help you or me, but to help us help others.  And in helping people, Jesus can be our model.  For Jesus is the wisest, keenest, most astute, most scientific, most skillful helper of human beings who ever lived."
Norman Vincent Peale, In God We Trust

Advent has several standing committees made up of volunteers from the congregation called by God to join together as the body of Christ to do the work of the Church.   Each committee includes at least one council member in order to communicate its needs, activities and progress to council and to the congregation.   Special task forces are also periodically established to address special needs of the congregation and the wider community.  A brief description of each committee is provided on this page, as well as links for some committees.  Check out the Calendar of Events web page and The Announcer for dates and times of committee meetings.  If you wish to give of your time and talents to one or more of these committees or would like additional information about a committee, please contact the Church office at 266-5883 and a contact person will be provided to you.

Congregational Council Council members are elected for three year terms by members of the congregation.  The Congregational Council is made up of 12 elected members, as well as the Pastor.  Each member has a mailbox in the Church office if you would like to leave one or more of them a message.
